Update for 2010

I don't have much time today to make a detailed post, but hopefully I can resume making Dogs on Thursdays posts sometime soon. I miss catching up with other dog bloggers!

My last post was in 2009 and there have been lots of changes since then! It would take up too much time and space to describe it all, so here is a list of the big events:

Rich and I got married on 10/17/09! It was almost the only day in October that did NOT rain, and it was a bit COLD to be wearing a strappy dress, but the weather was still nice enough for an outdoor wedding. Friends and family helped keep all the behind-the-scenes stuff running and I got to marry a wonderful man.

Shortly after the wedding I lost my job. Social services took a big funding hit and I got laid off, spent some time on unemployment, but temporarily worked as an educational test scorer and also started a CNA job in February that has helped me get more out of nursing school and vice versa. I am pretty sure I'm done with social services, but will probably keep up my DV certification just in case I need it down the road.

In pet news, we adopted our dog Buddy in December 2009 from the local animal shelter. He is also a beagle mix like Zeus, but the mixes are different... as well as their personalities!

We also lost Kitty a few months ago. He had feline leukemia, and after it became evident that he was in so much pain, we decided it was time to let him go. Our vet put him to sleep and we buried him over at the house (that we are eventually moving into) under a huge tree. Now we have "Kitty's tree."

Progress has been made on the house, but it's not ready to move into yet. There is still work to be done, and now we're looking at moving in the spring. Maybe.

As for school, I am on the home stretch. If all goes as planned, I should be finished with LPN classes in December, graduate in January, take the NCLEX, and hopefully be an official LPN by February. It's sink or swim time. I have a decent shot at getting an LPN position where I work but nothing is guaranteed.

I registered for next semester, despite the fact that I'm tired of school. If I want to pursue the RN bridge program at all, I might as well keep working towards it while I can. I signed up for Microbiology and another math class. Yay.

We took a much needed vacation in October to Mexico. We didn't take a honeymoon after the wedding, so this was our combo honeymoon-1 year anniversary trip. Sitting by the pool and beach, all inclusive food and drinks, and going on excursions for exploring Mayan ruins, snorkeling, and swimming with dolphins is much more fun than the daily routine!

I think that brings everything up to date.

'Til I write again... :)
